Buenos Aires, December 15 (NA) – Following the success of the series "El Encargado" and the film "Homo Argentum", Guillermo Francella has decided to return to theater. According to what was learned by the Argentine News Agency, the actor will star in "Desde el Jardín", which will mark his return to Corrientes Street in 2026. This is an unprecedented adaptation of the novel "Being There", by the Polish-American writer Jerzy Kosinski; published in 1971 and on which the cult film starring Peter Sellers in 1979 was also based. The theatrical version of "Desde el Jardín" will have its premiere in Argentina on March 28, 2026, at the Metropolitan theater, accompanied by a first-line cast, including Andrea Frigerio, Martín Seefeld, Víctor Laplace, Horacio Erman, Mayra Homar, Diego Jaraz, Daniel Miglioranza and Carla Pandolfi. The theatrical version and direction will be in charge of Marcos Carnevale, with general production by Guillermo Francella, Adrián Suar and Pablo Kompel. "Desde el Jardín" tells the story of Chance Gardiner (Guillermo Francella); a man of limited intelligence, raised his entire life within the mansion of a wealthy benefactor. He cannot read or write; his only knowledge comes from caring for the garden and what he sees on television, his only contact with the world. When the benefactor dies and Chance is expelled from the house, he is forced to integrate into society. Chance meets Eva (Andrea Frigerio), a high-society woman who decides to take him into her home along with Ben, her husband (Víctor Laplace), an influential businessman, terminally ill; for whom Chance will soon become his best medicine. The character of Chance lacks malice, ambition or desire for power. However, without intending to, he becomes an accidental sage. He becomes so influential an advisor and even a presidential candidate, all due to misinterpretations of his innocent language. "Desde el Jardín" is a brilliant allegory (and a black comedy and social drama) of the particular times we are currently living in; it shows how appearance and context can create prestige without there being real knowledge or merit. Its literalness, simplicity, and way of expressing himself with metaphors about plants and climatic seasons are interpreted by the people around him - including the President of the United States (Martín Seefeld) - as a philosophical or political speech of great intellectual relevance, to be taken very seriously. A satire on how society and the media value form over content, showing that power can fall to someone who literally "knows nothing", but who is in the right place and says the right words.
